Texas Holdem Basic Strategy
If you´ve never played texas holdem before, this site can provide you with some useful tips before you enter the tables. Here are the basic rules of the game, vital information for every player if you want to win at the tables.
Blinds
Before cards get dealt, Two players are blinds, the small blind and the big blind. The two players who are next to the dealer are the blinds. This is used to simulate action in the game. In a $10-$20 Hold\’em game, the blinds are usually $5 and $10.
Dealing and betting
Two cards are dealt to each player; thereafter there is a betting round. During the first round, a player can either check or raise the blind, or you can fold your cards. Most of the casinos allows one to bet for one round and thereafter maybe three or four raise per round, with only one exception. When only two players plays to win the pot there is no restrictions against how many times you can raise the pot. When all players have bet after the first round 3 community cards are dealt shown to all the players, this is called the flop. Then there is another round of betting. During the next rounds it\’s up to every player if they should bet or fold.
A fourth community card is dealt. Another round begins. When the round is finished is the fifth and last community card shown. Then the five community cards and the two cards that the player has is used to form the best five-card hand.
The game is that simple. But in its simplicity lies elegance and sophistication, that makes Texas hold\’em the most popular game of poker in the world.
To know when to fold your cards or not
71 percent of your hand is defined in the flop. As a result of this, you will find that the best part of your hand is lying on the table, you\’ll see 71 percent of your hand for only one round. It either takes a strong hand or a possibility to make a potential winning hand to stay left for the fourth and fifth card is turned up, another reason can be that you suspect one of your opponents will fold if you raise after the fourth or fifth card.
The first two hands are crucial
Frequently you will hear from other players that any two cards can win. Even if it’s true, it’s not the whole truth. The whole truth is: Even if any two cards can win, they will not win enough for a legimate game with them. Like every other form of poker, you need a standard for starting hands. Players that lack standards, often goes too far with bad hands.
Position
There is a saying that says that the three most important things when you build houses is: “Position, Position and Position”. In Hold’em it’s the same: Position, Position and Position. Its so important that some hands isn’t even worth playing in an early position can be hands you raise with in an later position. In a typical nine-player game, the early positions is the big blind and the small blind and the two player after them. The fifth, sixth and the seventh player are in the middle position, the eighth and ninth player are in late position.
